WordPress.org (Self-hosted)

Connect your self-hosted WordPress site using Application Passwords.

Prerequisites

• WordPress 5.6 or later
• Application Passwords feature enabled (it's on by default)
• Admin or Editor user account

Setup Steps

1. In WordPress: Go to Users → Your Profile → scroll to Application Passwords
2. Enter a name (e.g., "RankHiker") and click Add New Application Password
3. Copy the generated password (you won't see it again!)
4. In RankHiker: Go to Platforms → + Add Platform → WordPress.org
5. Enter:

- Site URL — e.g., https://yourblog.com - Username — Your WordPress username - Application Password — The password you just generated

1. Click Test Connection then Add Platform

Common Issues

• 401 Unauthorized — Double-check username and application password
• 404 Not Found — Make sure your site URL is correct and REST API is accessible
• SSL Error — Your site needs a valid SSL certificate (HTTPS)
